New Nesmith album

Just wanted to let any Monkees fans or Mike Nesmith fans know that I heard from video ranch that a new album,CD if you will, is being release. It is called Rays and will probably be realeased in January. Here is a copy of what the email said. If you haven’t seen our Nez FAQ lately then you may not have heard the recent news; Nez has finished his album “Rays,” and it will become available after the first of the year (this time it’s really true!). Nez has been working on this album for years and we are all so excited that it is now complete! It will be available for download at all the download stores (iTunes, iTunes UK, Rhapsody, Napster, MSN, etc.) as well as on CD. That’s all the information we have right now but we will certainly let you know as we hear more.

Bible memory verses

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever, believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:16 and 17 king james version

Another Halloween Memory

After I posted the last message and mentioned just having parties at chruch I rememberd one that I went to. My cousin Rachel and her Mom and Dad. My Aunt Joan and Uncle Jim. Took us to one at their church. Now before I go any further you have to know that my family does not believe in having sex before marriage. We still believe this today. At the party I was waiting in line to have my fortune told. A girl came out and ask if Rick Phillips was there. I was surprised. How did they know that I was waiting in line? I went into the room. It was dark and I could not see well but when the fortune teller spoke I knew it was my Aunt Joan. She asked me to choose between two bowls and to stick my hand in the bowl and take out want was in it. I took out the only item in the bowl. She said that I would have 1 child and it would be a boy. She asked me to do the same with two other bowls. I did but this time there was nothing in the bowl. Half laughing and half in shock my aunt said "Rick your going to have a child but your not going to be married." This was of course all a joke and I don't really belive in fortune telling and neither do most of my family. Also, I am married and we don't have children.

Halloween memories

With this being the weekend for all hallow's eve I have memories of trick or treating comming back to me. One of my earliest memories is when I was going to go trick or treating with my cousins Rachel, Randy and Jeff. I was to dress as Green Lantern. Come Halloween I had the costume from the neck down but I could not find the mask. I looked all over the house. My bedroom, the living room, the hallway, the kitchen etc. I remember espically looking at the cupboard in the kitchen. It was getting close to the time for us to leave so I used an old mask of Satan. So there I was dressed as Green Lantern but my face looked like Satan. Guess I could say that I was Sinestro that year. Finally trick or treating was over and we went home. When we got home I went to the cupboard in the kitchen and sitting there in plain view was my Green Lantern mask. I know my parents probably thought that I didn't look hard enough for the mask but I know I looked there before and it was not there. It reminded me of a Twilight Zone episode. If you have a son who is a Green Lantern fan like I was you can go to this site http://www.shindigz.com/catalog.cfm?caid=526712 It is not like the costume that I had but it is Green lantern. I remember when Halloween seemed more innocent then it is today. Now you hear rumors of Satan Worship and things like people putting pins in the candy. Perhaps they should just have parties at the local church or not celebrate it at all. But at least it was innocent for awhile.
My cousins and I kept celebrating Halloween till sometime in high school. The last time I remember going out was while in high school. Randy and I were fans of the Marx Brothers. Randy went as Groucho and I with my then naturally curly, almost afro like hair decided to go as Harpo. Well it was either that or Chico. Maybe Zeppo and who knows what Gummo looked like. Anyway these are some memories and I hope you liked reading them.

Title Change 2: The Sequel

Ok I changed it back. I can't help it. I just like this title instead of From My Mind. If I start getting questions on knitting then I will just have to tell them they have the wrong site. If I ever think of a better title I will use that one but I don't think I can get a better title. So thank you for reading On My Mind.

Title change

I have changed the title of my blog. It was called On My Mind but on a recent search I found another page with the same title. This blog was mostly about knitting. In order to avoid any confusion with it I changed it to From My Mind. Not certain if this is temporary or not. So till I change my mind it will be called From My Mind.

Ghost and Mr. Chicken

"The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (Style A)" Movie Poster
I hope this shows up. I just watched the movie The Ghost and Mr. Chicken. A really fun movie starring Don Knotts. Above should be the movie poster that was used to advertise it. I hope it is above as it is the first time I have added a photo to a post. This was a movie that I never got to see at the theater. Only on TV. I watched it every October. Just as I did Scared Stiff with Martin and Lewis and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. If you watch this movie and feel like you are watching an episode of the Andy Griffth show it is understandable. Many of the actors were used on the Griffith show. It is rumored that Mr. Griffith himself helped write the script but went unbilled for the efforts. Anyway the link above is to a great shopping site Deep Discount DVD. You can get it there for a reasonable price and free shipping.

Irving

Ok now time for a goofy one.

Irving is a fink.
I really hate his guts.

Irving's such a fink.
I think he must be nuts.

I wrote this on another site along with the previous two. They kept those but didn't keep Irving.
Oh well not all people have a taste for great art. :)

The Baptism

This is a poem that I wrote describing the time I was baptized.

I was so young when I first heard,
how the Word can set you free.
It talked of Jesus.
It talked of love.
It talked of Calvary.

The walk down the aisle was just a small trial.
Then I took the preacher's hand.
Men talked with me and asked me questions.
They were sure I would go to the Promised Land.

The time went by and then the day came.
I was dunked under water
and when I was let up Jesus knew my name.

He knew it from the start.
The rest was up to me.
To let Him in my heart
and express my thanks for Calvary.

For You and For Me

This is a poem that I wrote about the relationship my wife Violet and I have. I gave it to her as a gift last Christmas. She loved it. I hope you do too.

All my life I searched the world all around.
To find the love that I now have found.
Your spirit touched my heart and your beauty my eyes.
After a few months I soon realized.
We two should be one.
It was plain to see. It would be challenging but fun.
For you and for me.

Hi!

First time blogger. Long time reader. This however, is not my first website. I had one before where I tried to sell my Children's book "Dinky the Elf" It was a book that I cheaply published from my computer. A few of them were bought and some given as gifts. The happiest part was that the people enjoyed the story. As Christmas gets closer it may appear here. Which brings me to my reason for this blog site. It is mainly to put on my stories, poetry etc. A few random thoughts may get on here but it is mostly for a creative outlet. Some of the stories already have a copyright but just have not been published yet. So if anyone out there likes my stories and wants to publish them feel free to e-mail me. I don't know how often I will be able to add to the site but I hope that you like what you read when something new is put up.
