For A Friend by The Bugaloos

I know that The Archies had a hit from their TV show and Jack Wild did well thanks in part to his Saturday morning show H.R. Puffnstuf. It was years later that I heard the Bannana Splits had one in England. Now I find that the Bugaloos also had one. It too must have been a hit in Europe because I never heard of it. Cna't fault the songwriters. The song is a good pure pop 70's tune and Hirshhorn and Kasha had a long list of popular tunes to their credit by that time.

Suzi Quatro "Stumblin' In"

Remember this song? This is probably the only hit Suzi had. At least it's the only one I remember. This came around the same time as her appearances on Happy Days. Her future looked bright but then she dropped off the radar. However, I recently found her site and you can see it too if you click here to find out more.
This is from an episode of a show that she and Chris Norman did on a TV show in Europe. They seem to really be enjoying themselves. The crazy thing is that this showed up on youtube.com when I was really searching for the cartoon show the Hillbilly Bears. Maybe they thought Chris Norman looked like Pa Rugg from that show.

Len Mink

I remember when local programming was more then just the news. During the day and some evenings even local stations had their own stable of talent they could build shows around. They had talk shows, variety shows and those who would host movies. In Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky the Nick Clooney Show was a local variety show that was first on WCPO and later WKRC. Years after it was canceled the Mr. Clooney would be back on at WKRC as a news anchor. On his variety show he had talents like Len Mink. He was a local singer who was very popular. This youtube.com clip is from Mr. Mink's last appearance on the show when it was on WCPO. Later, when he becaome a Christian Mr. Mink went on to a Christian music ministry.

Happy 4th of July

I wish everyone who comes to this site a Happy and Safe 4th of July. Here are two videos I hope you enjoy. The first is of the Lee Greenwood song "God Bless the USA". The second is what they called in 1976 a Bicentennial Minute. On CBS between 1975 and 1976 after some of their programs they would air them with celebrities narrating them. This one had Jessica Tandy. Most of you may remember her as Miss. Daisy from the movie version of "Driving Miss. Daisy". Have a great holiday.

Monkees Pleasant Valley Sunday

Just saw this video on YouTube.com. In the more section it says that The Girl I Knew Somewhere was the original song for this segment. Others in repeats and syndication replaced it. Steam Engine from the CBS Saturday mornings is the one I remember. Here is the rare verson with Pleasant Valley Sunday.

Happy Birthday Elvis

I can't let this day go by without saying Happy Birthday to Elvis the true King of Rock and Roll. Without him Rock and Roll wouldn't have been the same. Perhaps his best known song that is known by even people who aren't Elvis fans is "Hound Dog." In honor of his birthday here is John Lennon, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bon Jovi and Elvis himself singing his most famous song.

Now here is Elvis from his live appearance on the Milton Berle show on June 5th 1956.
