Burger Chef and Jeff commercial

Here is one commercial that I remember from another favorite fast food resteraunt that is no longer with us. Buger Chef! I had some ties to the local one. My Grandad worked there part time when he retired. When I was in high school a friend, inronically named Jeff, also worked there but I don't think the two of them worked together. I remember some people asking him where he worked and when he told them they would say something like "Oh i get it. Burger Chef and Jeff." Like he took the job as a joke. He never liked it when people made those jokes. I don't blame him. I did love their commercials. I have always been a fan of animated commercials. Wish they would do more of them now.

Red Barn Spot

Like most people I was raised on fast food. Some of my favorites are now gone but thanks to Youtube we still have their commercials. Here is one that I miss. Red Baarn.

Rest in Peace Jim Harmon

I just heard that Jim Harmon, the writer/editor of the "It's That Time Again" series of short stories dealing with characters from old time radio, has passed away. Mr. Harmon was the first person to buy a story of mine and published it in that series. He exchanged some e-mails with me and he seemed like a very kind man. I even learned a few literary devices from him. His last e-mail was to congratulate me on on the release of my book "Dinky the Elf" but how he may not be able to get a copy. Now I wish I had sent him a copy. Mr. Harmon was a huge fan of OTR, movies, comic books and more. He tried to encourge all writers and he will be missed.

Beware the Griswolds are on vacation again.

The Griswolds are on Vacation again. This time it is to visit their, finally, grown up son Rusty and his kids. You can see the short film at Homeaway.com. Personally I would rather take my chances with a cheap motel then rent my home out to strangers. But that's me.

I just saw this for sale on E-bay. a 1959 high school year book that the bids had going for over $45 whe I last looked. Why? Because if you look closely it is teh year book that has Mike "wool hat" Nesmith in it. A 1959 year book that will probably sell for over $50 just because it has a future Monkee in it. Wonder what onw with a Beatle in it would go for?

They're doing it again

Rhino did it before with Headquarters and Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd. and they are doing it again. But the specials are very limited. Here is what they had to say.

Davy Jones on the new Scooby Doo Movies

I was looking to see if there was a full episode of when Davy Jones appeared on Scooby Doo. All I could find was this clip of him singning on the show and he makes reference to the Monkees on it.

The Latest Late Night War

Jay and Conan Pictures, Images and Photos
It doesn't seem that long ago that there was a late night war over the Tonight Show between Jay Leno and David Lettermen. Back then if someone had said it would happen again in 2010 that wouldn't be hard to believe. But this battle should have been between Conan O'Brian and Jimmy Kimmel. To see that Leno is still in the battle for me is hard to believe. To say that some are seeing Leno as the bad guy in this would have been even harder to believe in the first battle. Remember he seemed like the good guy in the first one.
Leno gave up the Tonight Show to host his own self titled show every night at 10pm. A bold move by him and NBC. A move that either way would make broadcasting history. Saddly it made history in a bad way. But Leno gave up the Tonight Show. Now he seems to want it back and the network wants him back. Conan wasn't told it was a temp job when he got it. If the only thing that has the network and the affiliates mad is that Leno is a bad lead in for the news then just cancel his show. He has done well enough over the years that he will be well off. Conan of course is too but in my opinion he has done nothing wrong. NBC has botched up their late nights now and Conan will just go to some other network and will be more competation for the Tonight Show.
