Urgent Cancer Prayers

Readers of this blog please pray for my old high school friend Beth. I just found out that she has cancer and is not responding well to treatment. Also, pray for my cousin who's Mother in law has cancer and his best friend Terri who also has cancer. Pray that if any of them do not know Christ that they come to accept Him as their Lord. Thank you in advance.

Prayer to ask Christ into your heart

If you know in your heart that you need Jesus Christ in your life. Then pray this simple prayer.
Dear God,
I know that I am a sinner and need forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ shed His precious blood and died for my sin. I am willing to turn from sin. I invite Christ into my heart and life as my personal Saviour.

If you have done this then you now need to find a Bible believing and preaching church. Here are a few that have websites. You can e-mail them if they are not in your area. They may be able to help you find one in your area. Here are the sites.

Erlanger Baptist Church
First Apostolic Church of Cincinnati
Florence United Methodist Church
Lilburn Alliance Church
Northern Kentucky Baptist Church

If these don't work I will provide links that do above.

Prayer of Salvation

Page 23
"God blesses those who realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is given to them.

Matthew 5:3 NLT
"

The poor in spirit

"There is probably no living man through whom God has worked more mightily than Billy Graham. Dr. Graham has reached more people with the gospel of Jesus than perhaps any person in history. Yet those who know him best don't usually talk about his accomplishments or the number of people he's led to Christ. They talk of his unbelievable humility.

Several years ago Dr. Graham was interviewed on PrimeTime Live. He was sitting somberly in a chair when the last question came his way: "What do you want people to say about you when you're gone?" His response took many by surprise. "I don't want people to say anything me. I want them to talk about my Savior. The only thing I want to hear is Jesus saying, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant.'" Then he bowed his head and said softly, "But I'm not sure I'm going to hear that." It was a rare but honest look into the true nature of Billy Graham's heart. In spite of all he's done for the work of the Kingdom, he still sees himself unworthy of God's commendation.

The highest honor in heaven is reserved for those who least expect it. The first in line to receive his blessing will likely be the ones who were content to stay at the back of the line on earth. If you want to know the true strength and power of Billy Graham's life, look at his heart, not his crusade attendances. God doesn't save us because of who we are or what we've done but because of our faith in accepting his gift of salvation.

Nova Prime Page

He's back. The Human Rocket. The Man called Nova. I am a big fan of Nova and his creator Marv Wolfman. Nova has not been treated too well by Marvel. Well they have tried to keep him in the comic buying public's eye. The first year his series came out he was a smash hit. Everybody I knew who bought comics was talking about Nova. However, for some reason year 2 faltered. Nova went from monthly publishing status to bi-monthly to gone. On occasion he did show up in other books like What If? or the Fantastic Four. But for the most part he was gone. Then came a book called the New Warriors and Nova was a member. It was no surprise to me that he became their most popular member. Again he was given his own title. Eventually both series were canceled. A few years later they tried again but with no luck. Perhaps they should get his dear old Dad Marv Wolfman to write it again. He seemed to be pretty good at it. I have read on this page that Marvel is trying again in 2006. Mr. Wolfman created the character in a fanzine in 1966. The fanzine was Super Adventures and he was first called the Star then changed to Black Nova and finally just Nova. I have heard that because of this Mr. Wolfman owns the rights to Nova. Perhaps that is why there was no merchandising of the character back in the 70's. I would loved to have a t-shirt or sweatshirt with Nova on it. Actually I do have a sweatshirt of Nova. Thanks to computers I was able to take the character off the cover of issue #1 and make an iron on transfer out of it. It has been washed so many times that it now really looks like I have had it since 1976. If you want to look at the great site that tells you everything about Nova then click on the title of this article and it
will take you there. Posted by Picasa

The Monkees TV Show

Earlier I mentioned that the Monkees, as a show and a rock group, are favorites of mine. However, recently it has come to my attention that people in their 20's do not know the Monkees had a TV show. They don't know that it was a sit-com first and that the cast became a rock group. I know that the radio stations have kept the group alive with the music on the airwaves. Still it was the tv show that made them popular. First with the original airings in the 60's. Later when it ran on Saturday mornings in the late 60's and early 70's. Then in syndication on independent stations and on cable stations like MTV, VH1 and Nick at Nite. But the show, to my knowledge, has not been on tv in years. If anyone knows who to get in touch with at Sony or Rhino please tell them if they want an future success with the Monkees they need to syndicate the show again. Perhaps Spike TV, TV Land or maybe even Hallmark. Hallmark is showing Gilligan's Island so why not The Monkees. Maybe then you can get the four Monkees to do a movie while they still can. It's That Time Again Vol. 3

A previous post was a story of mine called A War On A World. It was created partly by accident. I have a story that is being published this November. The book it is in is called "It's That Time Again Volume 3" and you can go to the site that tells you how to order it by clicking on the title above. The above photo is of the book "It's That Time Again Vol. 2" It is still for sale as well. It is a book series with new stories based on old time radio shows. You can buy it a BearManor Media at this link http://bearmanormedia.bizland.com/id87.html or again by clicking on the title above. My story is about War of the Worlds and Superman. However I could not mention Superman in the story as the publisher could not get the rights to use him. The editor is Jim Harmon. If that name is familer it may be because he is a famous writer of science fiction and Spider-Man comics for Marvel comics. He told me I would have to cloak the charactor. Use him and anyone related to him without mentioning their names. (spolier warning: If you want to read A War On A World stop now. Otherwise you will read the surprise ending of the story.}Instead of using Superman's parents Jor-El and Lara I called them Jordan Ellis and Laura Thompson. Sort of showing how they met. In the end it was to be Earth invading Krypton. However, Mr. Harmon didn't see where the Superman character was. With coaching from Jim I was able to write a different story that he liked and used in the book. If you want to read the story that was published go to http://bearmanormedia.bizland.com/id87.html by clicking on the title above and order the book before it is released in November. I believe you get a discount if you pre-order the book. So order now. Order often. Also, make my order with fries and a shake. Posted by Picasa

New Nesmith album

Just wanted to let any Monkees fans or Mike Nesmith fans know that I heard from video ranch that a new album,CD if you will, is being release. It is called Rays and will probably be realeased in January. Here is a copy of what the email said. If you haven’t seen our Nez FAQ lately then you may not have heard the recent news; Nez has finished his album “Rays,” and it will become available after the first of the year (this time it’s really true!). Nez has been working on this album for years and we are all so excited that it is now complete! It will be available for download at all the download stores (iTunes, iTunes UK, Rhapsody, Napster, MSN, etc.) as well as on CD. That’s all the information we have right now but we will certainly let you know as we hear more.

Bible memory verses

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever, believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:16 and 17 king james version

Another Halloween Memory

After I posted the last message and mentioned just having parties at chruch I rememberd one that I went to. My cousin Rachel and her Mom and Dad. My Aunt Joan and Uncle Jim. Took us to one at their church. Now before I go any further you have to know that my family does not believe in having sex before marriage. We still believe this today. At the party I was waiting in line to have my fortune told. A girl came out and ask if Rick Phillips was there. I was surprised. How did they know that I was waiting in line? I went into the room. It was dark and I could not see well but when the fortune teller spoke I knew it was my Aunt Joan. She asked me to choose between two bowls and to stick my hand in the bowl and take out want was in it. I took out the only item in the bowl. She said that I would have 1 child and it would be a boy. She asked me to do the same with two other bowls. I did but this time there was nothing in the bowl. Half laughing and half in shock my aunt said "Rick your going to have a child but your not going to be married." This was of course all a joke and I don't really belive in fortune telling and neither do most of my family. Also, I am married and we don't have children.

Halloween memories

With this being the weekend for all hallow's eve I have memories of trick or treating comming back to me. One of my earliest memories is when I was going to go trick or treating with my cousins Rachel, Randy and Jeff. I was to dress as Green Lantern. Come Halloween I had the costume from the neck down but I could not find the mask. I looked all over the house. My bedroom, the living room, the hallway, the kitchen etc. I remember espically looking at the cupboard in the kitchen. It was getting close to the time for us to leave so I used an old mask of Satan. So there I was dressed as Green Lantern but my face looked like Satan. Guess I could say that I was Sinestro that year. Finally trick or treating was over and we went home. When we got home I went to the cupboard in the kitchen and sitting there in plain view was my Green Lantern mask. I know my parents probably thought that I didn't look hard enough for the mask but I know I looked there before and it was not there. It reminded me of a Twilight Zone episode. If you have a son who is a Green Lantern fan like I was you can go to this site http://www.shindigz.com/catalog.cfm?caid=526712 It is not like the costume that I had but it is Green lantern. I remember when Halloween seemed more innocent then it is today. Now you hear rumors of Satan Worship and things like people putting pins in the candy. Perhaps they should just have parties at the local church or not celebrate it at all. But at least it was innocent for awhile.
My cousins and I kept celebrating Halloween till sometime in high school. The last time I remember going out was while in high school. Randy and I were fans of the Marx Brothers. Randy went as Groucho and I with my then naturally curly, almost afro like hair decided to go as Harpo. Well it was either that or Chico. Maybe Zeppo and who knows what Gummo looked like. Anyway these are some memories and I hope you liked reading them.

Title Change 2: The Sequel

Ok I changed it back. I can't help it. I just like this title instead of From My Mind. If I start getting questions on knitting then I will just have to tell them they have the wrong site. If I ever think of a better title I will use that one but I don't think I can get a better title. So thank you for reading On My Mind.

Title change

I have changed the title of my blog. It was called On My Mind but on a recent search I found another page with the same title. This blog was mostly about knitting. In order to avoid any confusion with it I changed it to From My Mind. Not certain if this is temporary or not. So till I change my mind it will be called From My Mind.
